Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 Lens

Description

Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 Lens Overview

The Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 Lens is a compact full-frame prime lens designed for Sony E-mount cameras such as Sony A 7 V full-frame Camera and Sony A6700 Mirrorless Camera . Its 35 mm focal length provides a natural wide-angle perspective that works well for everyday photography, portraits, street photography, travel, events and video production.

With a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture, the lens performs well in available light while giving photographers greater control over depth of field. It can also produce a pleasing separation between the subject and background, making it useful when you want a more cinematic or immersive look without carrying a large lens.

Fast f/1.8 Aperture

The wide f/1.8 aperture allows more light to reach the camera sensor, making the lens useful for indoor environments, evening shoots, and other situations where available light is limited. It also makes it easier to create shallow depth-of-field effects and isolate subjects from their surroundings.

Versatile 35mm Perspective

A 35mm focal length offers a useful balance between a wide view and a natural-looking perspective. It is wide enough for environmental portraits, interiors, and street scenes while remaining suitable for closer subject work. This versatility makes the lens a practical option for photographers who need one lightweight prime for different shooting situations.

Compact and Lightweight Design

At approximately 280.7g, the Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 is easy to carry during long shoots and works well with compact Sony mirrorless camera bodies. Its relatively small form factor also makes it convenient for travel, documentary, and street photography, where a larger lens may be unnecessary.

Autofocus for Photography and Video

The lens uses a linear autofocus motor with an internal focusing design for fast and precise focusing. Internal focusing keeps the lens barrel from extending while focusing, while the quiet autofocus operation is useful when recording video.

A customizable focus hold button and AF/MF switch provide additional control when switching between autofocus and manual focusing.

Optical Performance

The optical design includes an aspherical element to help control distortion and spherical aberrations. Combined with the lens’s 35mm perspective and bright aperture, this makes it suitable for producing detailed images across a range of everyday shooting conditions.

The lens also features a rounded nine-blade diaphragm, which helps create smoother-looking background blur when shooting with selective focus.

Dust and Moisture-Resistant Construction

The lens features dust- and moisture-resistant construction, providing added confidence when working in challenging outdoor conditions. However, it should still be used with appropriate care in rain, dust, or other harsh environments.
